Chrissie Davies of Chaos to Calm Consultancy, has been selected as a finalist for the 2018 AusMumpreneur Awards in the Victorian Business Excellence category.

The AusMumpreneur Awards presented by The AusMumpreneur Network celebrate and recognise Australian Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation. The awards are designed to recognise the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.

Chrissie Davies is an educator, consultant, writer, loving mama via open adoption, and passionate advocate for understanding children with challenging behaviours. She is committed to empowering and supporting families to live the life they truly deserve. She lives with her husband and young family in Melbourne.

Chrissie has over 15 years’ experience working for the Victorian Education Department, a decade of which was spent working in Specialist Education settings to meet the needs of children with extremely challenging behaviours.

Through her consultancy Chaos to Calm, Chrissie specialises in creating understandings and strategies to meet the needs of children with challenging behaviours. She supports both families and educators to create more awareness of the different ways to use communication and emotional engagement to make positive changes in children’s behaviour.  

She is also an Australian Childhood Foundation “Bringing up Great Kids” facilitator and a 123 Magic and Emotion Coaching practitioner.

Chrissie says -“I feel like winning this award would be like giving back to myself for all of my energy & hard work.  It certainly hasn’t been easy juggling, a business, two young children, a husband and all the while giving so much of myself to other people and their families. It takes a strong, passionate and motivated person to make a business a thriving success – & I know that I have managed to create something that I will be able to continue to feel proud & passionate about for many years to come.”

Business is not always easy and Chaos to Calm Consultancy has overcome challenges but has also seen great success. “The last 12 months I have been so busy – lots of clients, workshops and collaborations as well as always still being there for my kids. I just got to the point where I realised that I couldn’t maintain the high standard of work that I was giving to my clients, without outsourcing some things. It wasn’t easy letting go of everything, but I made the decisions to employ a bookkeeper and a social media manager. It was without a doubt the best thing I have done for my business, as it has allowed me so much more time to focus on all of the things that I do best. But most importantly on the days when I am with my kids – I am really with my kids physically and spiritually and mentally. I am not stressing about my next Facebook post or how many invoices I need to send out. It’s been an absolute game changer for me and I feel proud that I am now at the point that I can comfortable afford these things for my business.”

It can be challenging to run a successful business whilst raising a family and Chrissie Davies gives this advice for others thinking about starting their own enterprise. ”It is so much harder than I could ever really have anticipated. It is relentless and exhausting and so hard to switch off–but all the while the most incredible way to live your life. There will be times when it does feel like it is all too hard and be overwhelming – but the thought of going back to full time work and what that would mean for my family constantly keeps driving me to succeed.”
